AGE: 90 MANVILLE
Joseph A. Utasi, 90, died on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Bridgeway Care Center in Bridgewater. Born in Pine Hill, PA, son of the late George and Mary (Paul) Utasi, he moved to Manville at the age of 4 and attended Manville Public Schools and Bound Brook High School. Joseph was an industrial mechanic at Johns Manville for 43 years, retiring in 1980 as supervisor. Joseph was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville, serving as an usher for many years. He was a member of Johns Manville Quarter Century Club, Manville Senior Citizens Club, Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Washington Assembly, former Assistant Scout Master of Troop 193 of Manville, former president of the Manville Taxpayers Association and he was a life member of the Paper Makers Union. Joseph attended Boro Council meetings regularly.
Besides his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by three sisters: Julia Daku, Margaret Utasi and Betty Brinton; two brothers: Steve and William Utasi. Surviving is Joseph's beloved wife of 67 years, Stella M. (Piskorowski) Utasi; two loving sons: Joseph Utasi of Cincinnati, OH and Robert Utasi of Crestline, CA. He will be deeply missed by his two cherished grandchildren: Gabriel Utasi of Arizona and Sheila Hirschauer of Cincinnati, OH; and by two adored great grandchildren: Cougar and Colton Hirschauer.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 8th beginning 8:30 a.m. from Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835, followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville. Joseph will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at the funeral home on Friday, May 7th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, May 8th from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
