Jim and Mollie had no children but there were many cousins living in Carlton and consequently many family gatherings were held at Mollie and Jim's home. They put up many of the 'new chums' recently arrived from Ireland. Among these were Mollie's brother William, sister Anne, two nephews, Jimmy and Pat O'Connor. Jimmy and Pat were the children of Ellen Sheehy and James O'Connor of Duncaha.
