I can't confirm whether this is the same ship but I also found this item. The Tornado was the former Pampero, 1200 tons, built for the Confederate States during the Civil War in America. Renamed under the British flag, she was captured by the Spanish Frigate GERONA during the Spanish-Chilean War, August 1867. Quite a fuss ensued with England flexing the muscle of her fleet before she and her passengers were returned. Source: www.chignecto.net/cwa/newsship.7
Bridget (Patsy) Sheehy and Thomas Gaynor were living at at "Moor View", 37 Albert Street, South Melbourne, Victoria.
According to family lore a conversation between the two fathers, William Sheehy of Duncaha and Thomas Gaynor of Kildimo, resulted in the arrangement of the marriage between Bridget (known as Patsy) Sheehy and Thomas Gaynor.
Shipping documents list Thomas Gaynor jnr, age 28, emigrating on Oct 1863 and Bridget (Patsy) Sheehy, age 16, on March 1864. The age given for Bridget on the marriage certificate, when compared to the age given on the shipping document, indicates a discrepancy of ten years. This is probably a mistake by the emigration clerk but it was said that the family sometimes put their ages down to obtain a cheaper fare.
Bridget and Thomas ran a very successful carrier business and became well respected and established residents in South Melbourne, formerly known as Emerald Hill because of the large number of Irish residents. They encouraged their relatives to emigrate, and when necessary, subsidised the fare which was repaid in weekly instalments when the "new-chum" was established.
